Rail Live! 2017 and Interflon visit

Visit to Rail Live 2017 and catch up with InterflonUK
I picked the coolest day to visit as the day before was the hottest June day since 1976!
This was a first for me visiting a Rail show but an area that I think has a lot of opportunities to adopt proactive and predictive maintenance techniques. Some of the strategies from Lean Production environments could transfer across I believe.

The show is held annually at the Quinton Rail Technology Centre near Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire; it's actually next door to Long Marston aerodrome which becomes the off site carpark and ride site for the two days of the show.

My visit was to get a feel for the industry, ascertain the scale and meet some of the equipment suppliers that service the main players. Looking through the on-line exhibitor guide the night before I recognised a couple of names but one in particular, Interflon UK.

I have experience of using Interflon products for over 15 years in the food industry and they supply top range food safe lubricants into the sector. I actually took their three day 'Train the Trainer' course some years ago to train and develop employees on PepsiCo UK sites in the application and use of their extensive product range.

It was great to catch up with Russ Brown who I worked with for over 10 years applying the applicable Interflon products in the correct way and quantity when I worked for the PepsiCo UK business. Also Rob Taylor who now works alongside Russ concentrating these days on the Rail, Power, Water and Utility sectors.

Interflon certainly saved PIUK time and money over the long partnership with many examples of cost avoidance, unplanned downtime avoided and reduced lubricant usage when employing their product range.

One product that was key to our operational success was their Interflon HTG (High Temp Grease) that had a ceiling of around 260º C, this was used extensively on Ovens that operated near the top of that envelope. Other lubricants such as their Interflon EP Grease and the power saving 'G' range gear oils added even more benefits.

If you are considering a true partnership with your Lubrication supplier rather than just a supply based relationship then I can highly recommend Interflon UK team.
