One stop training to suit your business needs
Save time and money with UPTIME Consultant by talking holistically about your Training requirements
If you reading this you are probably in the market for some information about Reliability, Maintenance Strategy or a Predictive Maintenance subject. There are many pieces that have to come together to get to a Control situation, it starts with a vision of where you would like to be, a realisation of where you are today and the commitment to take the plunge and embark on the journey.
There are no silver bullet solutions to short circuit that journey, if there were I would be selling them
What I can sell though is 30 years of front line experience of what does work and more importantly what doesn't!
My mantra is, be Holistic, I can't talk just about Predictive Maintenance without thinking about RCM, I consider ROI in everything I do, business need is part of my mindset, training and development are key constituents.
Because of this way of thinking I believe I have my USP, my range of thought and consideration run through the whole, from process and productivity to front line engagement whilst sharing the best solutions that meet your particular business requirements.

UPTIME Consultant walks the talk
Experienced in developing and implementing a Predictive Maintenance and Lubrication strategy for a multi national company
During more than ten years of Reliability experience in the Food Sector I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, I was tasked with developing an integrated approach to Predictive Maintenance tied closely to a Lubrication Strategy.
This proved successful in removing unplanned downtime, reducing fixed time maintenance tasks, released skilled labour, whilst reengineering existing assets through improvements in design or procedures.
Repeated issues were identified, concentrated on and solutions implemented, driven by continuous improvement and root cause identification, but most importantly through taking action.
I honed my reliability and predictive maintenance skills on the front line as a practitioner in the disciplines of Acoustic Emission, Thermography, Tribology, Ultrasound and Vibration.
My last two years with PepsiCo were more about sharing these skills by training Operators, Maintainers and other site specialists best practice and how to provide return on investment through being proactive and predictive.
Forming Uptime Consultant Ltd in the summer of 2015 I decided that I would concentrate on my Top 5 PdM Techniques:
These five disciplines can cover most eventualities with rotating equipment or electrical devices, they also naturally compliment each other in practice, if you can deploy two or more of these you gain more information that enhances decision making.

My Top 5 Predictive Techniques
Predictive Techniques training that introduces my top five complimentary predictive technologies for industrial equipment
The choices to learn about Predictive techniques are usually between, talking to a sales representative from one technology solution, or taking a week out of the business to take a four day level one course in one discipline.
Both of these approaches are fine if you have lots of time to spare and a limitless training budget.
The down sides are, the instrument supplier may be more interested in their product and not your production, and the training course may be a step too early for a fledgling Predictive program.
UPTIME Consultant can save you time and money by delivering a one or two day "Introduction to Prediction and CBM" course.
This allows attendees from different parts of your business to understand the five technologies mentioned previously, what instruments are available, investment required, how best to deploy them in your facility, where the benefits are realised, and most importantly I focus on your production, uptime, availability and people.
The most popular one day course runs over four sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Delivery on the clients' site is best near to the production or assets, session four has the option to get your staff hands on experience with PdM instruments.
I bring a range of handheld instruments to evaluate and demonstrate, in some cases clients have PdM tools that are in use or locked away and forgotten in cupboards, it's great to get these back into use with a little instruction.
Previously I have helped a major automotive company, recycling company, utility sector and food industry clients with exploring their PdM and Reliability Strategy options.
All have different needs so the training is developed for their specific environment, for instance there will be a Food Safety part in the Food Industry training that wouldn't apply to the Automotive sector.
