Back to client site visits...Well we haven't been away really... our major clients are in the Food sector and have been full blast for the past year keeping all our goods on supermarket shelves.
This was a first for this year though as we were both working on the same site on inventory control, part of the output of the Criticality study we carried out over the last year, this highlighted all the parts required against risk and we handled the physical stocking into a parts carousel against a database. Here's me and Jenny all safely masked up to protect ourselves and the workforce from any COVID risks.

Great to get back to in person visitIt's been five months but finally getting back to visiting clients on site under COVID safe best practices, hopefully we can keep it up this time around.
UPTIME included in second reportQuote and accelerated digitalisation graph by area by McKinsey & Company It was great to be invited by CEO of UpKeep CMMS to add my view to the 2021 report outlook.
If you want to read the whole report you can access it here: https://www.onupkeep.com/state-of-maintenance? Condition Monitoring Re-visitedThermal Imaging is just one tool in the Condition Monitoring Toolkit Refreshing to be back on the front line looking after an asset group I have known for over 20 years!
When Walkers Snack Foods (PepsiCo) asked me to return to support their Condition Monitoring function it was a 'no brainer' for me. It's a win-win situation as I understand the business needs, which after all is what any asset care should deliver. Weighing up the Risks and Consequences is as important as monitoring the assets, delivering value is the aim. Having the experience of looking after this asset group has made my job so much easier, I already know the modes of failure and the techniques or technology to ascertain the state of health. Initial Oil Sampling has already thrown up some issues that we can plan to resolve over the next few weeks. If you have any questions about Fryers, Ovens, Driers, Extruders and other Food Production equipment please feel free to reach out here or via LinkedIn. COVID finally allows return... but for how long?News wise it's been a very quiet six months for UPTIME Consultant Ltd.
We are fortunate that most of our work can be carried out remotely with database and criticality input. But we really could have done with being back on clients sites back in April-May as we had physical inventory control to sort out, this means unpacking, cataloging, sorting, identifying or adding to the CMMS and finally physically locating these spares into a Carousel for easy access. PepsiCo R&D is still one of our main clients and have brought in excellent controls for COVID safe access to site with RAMS for CV working along with the usual RAMS. Here UPTIME Consultant exiting the sunny facility after a hard mornings site support👏 RCC Swag from my friend Wayne Hubball Great to receive a coveted RCC 'What is a Micron' mug, along with a very nice Helly Hansen soft shell hoody emblazoned with the Reynolds logo, ARGO HYTOS, and an OPCom Particle Monitor.
Many thanks to collaborator and friend Wayne MD and owner of RCC 😃👏 From Sanya Mathura MLEIt's always great to see a new book on a reliability subject, especially on Lubrication aspects that have not been covered fully before.
Even more important when it comes from a good friend who has been instrumental in moving forward the story on Lubricant Degradation Mechanisms. Seems like ages ago we were discussing the draft content, Sanya kindly asked me for a case study for inclusion, she didn't have to ask twice! It was a pleasure to help in some small way. It's released end November 2020 on CRC Press New virtual and chat based formatThis is becoming a bi-annual event now for me, one that I really enjoy because we have synergies here at UPTIME Consultant with Senseye, especially when it comes to scaling predictive technology in industry.
I would usually take a trip down to their headquarters at Southampton Science Park but everything has changed in these COVID times! We had decided on a theme of how these new technologies may disrupt our workforces now and in the future which is an area I work in and think about extensively. If you missed it you can still catch up with the recording by visiting www.senseye.io and I will also share it on my 'Knowledge' page here when it is available. Working with Glued Ltd on imageAs part of our business planning we have been working with Glued Ltd for the past couple of months exploring how UPTIME Consultant and UPTIME Consultant Academy should look in the future.
You can only spend so long ruminating over these things yourself before having to get a third party view, they have definitely seen things we do that were not apparent to us, we were too close to see! If you are looking for similar I can recommend David and Rob at Glued. Telling your Business StoryVikki Kirby of Vibrato Consulting here telling us a story at Glued Ltd headquarters This is the second half day workshop I have attended this year organised by Rob Harrison of Glued, this time with guest presenter and specialist in telling a business story Vikki Kirby.
Compelling content that opens your mind on what your business actually says to clients or prospects. Namely 'Why?' do you do what you do, and what is your story, how and what drove you to be in the business you are in and more importantly why should we care? I have found them so useful that I'm working with Glued, sense checking our brand and story by finding out what UPTIME Consultant is really about after nearly five years, setting us up for the next chapter of our story that we will share with clients, in fact anyone that will listen! You can find out more about Glued Ltd at www.gluedlimited.co.uk and Vibrato Consulting at www.vibratoconsulting.com |
